Living a ‘good life’ means more than just happiness! In this video series I’ve selected from 101 keywords and discuss how each word can impact your potential to live a more happy, flourishing and prosperous personal and work life.

This is keyword #018 – Boundaries

There’s a common saying used in both personal and business life that says something like “You’ve got to think outside of the box”.

This is usually referring to and suggesting that one of the life skills you need to develop is to get creative and think beyond what you would normally think.  The challenge here is that you don’t know what you don’t know.  Your thoughts, feelings, actions and results are limited within the boundaries of what you know and understand to be your truth and your capacities.

A reframing of thinking outside the box is required, and it’s going to require more than just positive thinking.  To expand your truth and capacities requires new information, new experiences, new learning, new relationships, new possibilities.  Rather than trying to think outside of what you know, expand your boundaries of possibilities so that you can increase your potential to live a more happy, flourishing and prosperous life.

How do you do that?

The key is in your thirst for intentional learning – read more, watch more, listen more and put yourself into situations where you are exposed to new information, and new perspectives beyond your own.

Expand your boundaries and you expand your potential to live a more happy, flourishing and prosperous life.

To conclude today’s message, I found this quote from Karl Weick who says……

“Simply pushing harder within the old boundaries will not do.”
