Living a ‘good life’ means more than just happiness! In this video series I’ve selected from 101 keywords and discuss how each word can impact your potential to live a more happy, flourishing and prosperous personal and work life.
This is keyword #023 – Community
One of the inescapable truths for a prosperous life is to define your intention for each life role. In one way or another, directly or indirectly you are part of one or more communities.
This can include your family community, work community, sporting community, charitable community, or some special interest community. Are you just ‘belonging’ to the community or are you actively creating value for others through belonging? What’s your intention as a community member? In what ways could you use your skills, knowledge or attributes to help improve your community?
Time is something that everyone has an equal amount of every day. Prioritising is the key to being a valuable community member. What time will you plan and prioritise to create value within your various communities you belong to? To be connected to a bigger meaning or purpose beyond your own immediate needs helps you to build self belief, strength of character, fulfilment and pride in your truth about you and will help you to live a happy, flourishing and prosperous life.
To conclude today’s message, let me leave you with this quote from the often quoted George Bernard Shaw who said….. “I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community and as long as I live, it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can. I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work the more I live.”
