Living a ‘good life’ means more than just happiness! In this video series I’ve selected from 101 keywords and discuss how each word can impact your potential to live a more happy, flourishing and prosperous personal and work life.
This is keyword #39 – Empower.
Taking stock of your truth about you and controlling your inner voice are inescapable truths for a happy, flourishing and prosperous life.
You have control over the level of empowerment you grant yourself to become who you need to be and to do what you need to do to live a happy, flourishing and prosperous life.
While your specific life roles may find others impacting your decisions, remember, the ‘feeling’ of empowerment is within your own control.
Even if you have a manager who sets your work role goals and the activities you need to complete to achieve those work role goals, your personal feeling of empowerment, that is, the amount of accountability you accept for what you think, how you feel and your choices of intentional action is the responsibility of yourself and no one else.
Flipping the word empower in another way is to ask in what ways are you helping those around you to feel more empowered. How are you intentionally helping others in your life roles to be more empowered, to feel better about who they are and their potential to live a happy, flourishing and prosperous life.
The more you accept responsibility for your own personal empowerment and the more you help those in your life roles to feel more empowered, the more you are living up to a bigger WHY and this will help you to live a more happy, flourishing and prosperous life.
To summarise today’s message I turn to the brilliant mind of Lord Alfred Tennyson who said….
“Self reverence, self knowledge, self control – these three alone lead to power.”
