Living a ‘good life’ means more than just happiness! In this video series I’ve selected from 101 keywords and discuss how each word can impact your potential to live a more happy, flourishing and prosperous personal and work life.

This is keyword #044 — Ethics

The powerfully simple ‘light of day’ test is an intentional ethical decision making approach that you apply when you are about to make a decision or take an action.

The question you ask is “With this decision you are about to make or this action you are about to take, would you make that decision or take that action, if it were held up for all to see in the light of day?”

The ‘light of day’ could mean reported on the internet, or on the evening news or in a mainstream newspaper, or if your family and friends were aware etc. You have control over your conscience – your inner voice and this is one of the inescapable truths for a prosperous life….to take control of your inner voice.

Your character matters!

What you say to yourself effects how you feel.  How you feel effects your decisions and actions, and it is your actions that lead you to living a happy, flourishing and prosperous life.  Applied ethics is about being who you need to be and doing what you need to do to live a life that is happy, flourishing and prosperous.

Wisdom is everywhere and wants us to find it, and I believe the quote I would like to share with you today is a great example of ‘simple wisdom’ from a very successful author….D H Lawrence tells us that …

“Ethics and equality and the practice of justice do not change with the calendar.”
